Golden the Pony Boy by Verdego Golden the Pony Boy by Verdego
A re-creation of the 'toy' from 'The Science of Sleep', Golden the Pony Boy, or Stephane, or Heaven, as he was originally called by the artist who made him (a cute miscommunication lead to his name in the film). He is made from corduroy, organic cotton yarn, buttons, and something that makes him special. Why re-make such a prop? Because I wanted to bring him to motion : [link] (please do watch and see!) He has a 'Barbie Forever Tawny Horse' underneath his skin, giving him the ability to freely move, just as the horse in the movie does with the help of animation. The original design of Golden belongs to his creator, and the folks at Warner Independent Film.

Thank you! He does walk, [link] though running, hah I wish I could! And rearing and things, perhaps if someone comes up with such a toy I will make a skin for it appropriately!

Hmm, the only way I figured was by giving the toy a new skin, unless you're up to building your own armature and programing you're own robotics (cool that would be!), I'm not sure how else it could be done.

Neat! Of course, the last shots in the movie have a REAL horse covered in fabric... so there's always that I suppose....

All I did was to create a new skin for the already existing toy, I didn't make a pattern, I just cut and sewed the pieces as I was working (since I was just covering the form, rather than starting from scratch). I started with the back, then covered the belly, I then wrapped the legs and neck, then finally the head, adding a little stuffing to fill out the features. I then sewed on the mane and tail in wefts of yarn, and finished it off with the buttons and ears. To figure out where to stitch it together, I just looked at the various pictures of Golden from the film, granted, this isn't the best way to form a pattern, but to make a replica, it worked well enough, as he is already an existing toy/piece of art, even if he is an animated prop. Err, a little verbose, but I hope that's of some help. And, also thanks for the +Fav and compliment!
